"First Fruits" Thanksgiving Collection

Our annual "First Fruits" Thanksgiving Collection will start on Sunday, October 25!

This time of year, we gather and distribute food to less fortunate families in McAllen and the surrounding area.

This year, we are requesting the following SPECIFIC items:

• 2 15-oz cans of mixed vegetabls
• 2 15-oz cans of mixed fruit
• 2 14.5-oz cans of green beans (cut)
• 1 24-oz bottle of vegetable/canola oil
• 1 4-lb bag of sugar
• 1 2-lb bag of flour (all purpose)

Grab a bag and a printed list in the Narthex on any Sunday, purchase your items, and return them to the church office by Monday, November 9!

You can drop your items at the church office from Monday through Thursday, 8:30am-4:30pm, or on Sunday mornings during worship to the Narthex.

Each year, we also give a gift card with our Thanksgiving baskets so families can purchase whatever meat they prefer for their meal. This year, we will give a $10 gift card. If you would like to give toward this gift, you may click here to give through PayPal or write a check made out to First UMC designating Thanksgiving baskets.

Perishable food items and more will be purchased and included with ministry funds! If you have specific non-perishable items such as fruits or vegetables to contribute, please call Susan Hellums at the church (956-686-3784) or email shellums@mcfirst.com.

“We also assume responsibility for bringing to the house of the Lord each year the first fruits of our crops and of every fruit tree.” Nehemiah 10:35

Thank you in advance for the gift of your "First Fruits!"
